And The Winner Is.....

James Hetfield of Metallica by Guillaume Raisonnable, on FlickrMy photo of James Hetfield (lead singer of Metallica) won this years photo contest at the local cameraclub (out of 51 other photos).

The photo was taken this year at their concert in Ahoy, Rotterdam [1, 2], and this image felt right from the beginning.

The presentation of the results was kinda eye-opening. It showed that people (especially the juror in this case) interpret photos in different ways. It also showed that many things we try to capture is something that's been done before (and sometimes many, many times).

Anyway, I hope that this evening inspires me for the coming year to capture even better photo's.

Apart from winning, the photo will also be used as the starting photo in next years photo-relay. The results will be available around 2010 here.

Topfoto, alles klopt. Hulde, en gefeliciteerd met een terechte prijs, zonder te weten wat anderen hadden ingezonden. Die waren bij voorbaat kansloos.

Ik zal proberen om volgend jaar een wat minder overtuigende foto in te zenden. Dan maakt de rest ook nog wat kans ;-)
